Mandate

Khalif Ma’o Academy of Marine Studies (KAMS), is the first of its kind in Mogadishu, Somalia, and founded in the year 2015 by Somali Marine Resource Research Center (SMRRC), offering marine related courses for the improving country’s knowledge about marine. Khalif Ma’o Academy of Marine Studies aims at catering to the educational needs of students who have flair in marine educations.
The aim of KAMS is to further enhance the objectives and goals of Federal Government of Somalia and member States through education, research, and capacity building to ensure safe, secure, efficient shipping on clean oceans And fisheries resources management.
Studying at KAMS will give a wide range of useful skills that can enable students to develop their career path. it also has training school which is offering short courses to the artisanal fisheries with improving their skills on fishing and those like to benefit the marine resources; it will be enhanced the increasing employment rate of the youth.

The Academy has three Faculties, namely:
